چکیده
We present and evaluate an automatic method to define anatomical coordinate systems (ACSs) for 3D bone models of isolated arthritic knee. The method has acceptable repeatability and can also be used for the bone shape alignment. Keywords— 3D bone model, automation, shape alignment, medical imaging, shape analysis.

In Vivo Method for Tracking 3D Kinematics of the Healthy and Anterior Crucial Ligament Transected Goat Knee Joint: A Preliminary Study
The objective of this paper is to introduce a novel method for tracking 3D kinematics of the healthy and anterior crucial ligament (ACL) transected goat knee. Sham and ACL transection surgeries were performed on two goats (1 sham, 1 ACL transection) with tantalum bone markers inserted into the tibia and femur. Goat gait was captured using a high-speed, biplanar fluoroscopy system and bone marke...
متن کاملStandardized Anatomical Coordinate Systems for 3-D Bone Models of the Human Knee
INTRODUCTION: Three-dimensional (3-D) skeletal motion capture technology currently employs a combination of biplanar video fluoroscopy and computed tomography (CT) to probe knee joint motion with high accuracy [1-4]. In order to take advantage of recent advancements in this technology, it is important to establish reliable coordinate systems for the tibia and femur. Current techniques for estab...
متن کاملAccuracy of a contour-based biplane fluoroscopy technique for tracking knee joint kinematics of different speeds.
While measuring knee motion in all six degrees of freedom is important for understanding and treating orthopaedic knee pathologies, traditional motion capture techniques lack the required accuracy. A variety of model-based biplane fluoroscopy techniques have been developed with sub-millimeter accuracy. However, no studies have statistically evaluated the consistency of the accuracy across motio...
متن کامل3D Morphological Study of the Indian Arthritic Knee: Comparison with Other Ethnic Groups and Conformity of Current TKA Implant*
Background: Studies have shown that there are striking variations in knee morphology between Asian and Western population. However, most of the existing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) implants are designed to suit the anatomy of Western population. Our study investigated anthropometry of Indian arthritic knees and compared them to international ethnic groups. Methods: Computed tomography was use...
متن کاملAnalysis of the Geometry of the Distal Femur and Proximal Tibia in the Osteoarthritic Knee: A 3D Reconstruction CT Scan Based Study of 449 Cases
Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate the geometry of the distal femur and the proximal tibia in the osteoarthritic knee using 3D reconstructive CT scan imaging. Methods: 449 patients with knee osteoarthritis were treated surgically in our center with patient-specific technology total knee arthroplasty. Preoperatively, all the patients underwent a CT scan according to a standard ...
